I was born in Arkansas and moved to Texas when I was 12 years old. I went to elementary school, middle school, and was part of the first graduating class at my high school in Texarkana, TX.
Upon graduation, I moved to Denton, TX to attend the University of North Texas. Iworked as amodel with alocal agency in Dallas to support myself. In my junior year, a modeling agency from Paris decided that they wanted me to work in Europe so I dropped my classes and flew to Paris where I spent the following eight years working and traveling throughout Europe.
While in Paris, I learned the French language and to this day it is the only second language that I speak, read, and write fluently. I was also able to assimilate and submerge myself in the French culture where I learned that dinner is rarely served before 10:00 p.m. Also, while I was living there, I happily spoiled myself with fantastic clothes and shoes, food, and wine. The architecture of the buildings was something to behold and the museums weren’t half-bad either!
Eventually, I moved back to Dallas and completed the three semesters and earned a BA in Elementary Education
specializing in Early Childhood. Soon after, my husband and I moved to Los Angeles where I began working as a substitute at private elementary schools. Eventually, I took a full time position at Nestle. I have been working here
for the last sixteen years (save one year in kindergarten) as a second grade school teacher.
My inspiration(s) to become a school teacher are my father, sister, and (late) brother and beloved mother. My father coached baseball and taught Texas history until he retired. My sister is a middle school, physical education teacher. My mom was an elementary level special education teacher and my brother taught English in high school. So, naturally I was highly influenced by my family members and it made perfect sense to become a teacher.
I take special interest in all the boys and girls who I am privileged to teach. I feel that every single one of them have
the power to change the world for the better.
